The LANTUS® SoloSTAR® is an easy-to-use
insulin pen. It comes pre-filled with LANTUS®.
You can set doses from 1 to 80 units one unit at a time.
LANTUS® is a
once-a-day insulin that delivers 24-hour basal coverage.
Basal, or long-acting
insulin, is a term used to describe the slow, steady release of insulin
needed to control blood glucose.
One injection of LANTUS® lasts a full 24 hours. That means you only have to
take one shot a day to give yourself 24-hour basal control. Most patients
take LANTUS® at bedtime, but you can take it at other times with your
doctor's okay — just as long as you only take it once a day at the same time
each day.
LANTUS® can be used for adults with type 2 diabetes or adults and children
(6 years and older) with type 1 diabetes who require long-acting (basal)
insulin for the control of high blood sugar.

SoloSTAR® insulin pen receives GOOD DESIGN Award
Sanofi-aventis has announced
that the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design has awarded a 2007
GOOD DESIGN™
Award for the new SoloSTAR® disposable insulin injection pen for people with
type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

been designed in dialogue with patients, nurses
and doctors and meets the high standards of the industry,” said Paul Jansen,
Global Head Medical Devices, sanofi-aventis.

SoloSTAR® provides a delivery option that may be more acceptable and more
convenient to use in comparison with other delivery systems,
thus may promote patient compliance, which could help achieve and maintain
